Air ROTC Enrollment Announced at Local Unit

Colonel William G. Workman announced that this quarter marks the last chance for second and third quarter freshmen and first quarter sophomores to enroll in the Air Force ROTC. Eligible students will receive draft deferments, with a doubled course load next year and probation during this period. The unit activated July 1 now includes Col. Workman Capt. Wesley W. Egan Capt. James T. Boyd 2nd Lt. William Mason master sergeants Painter C. Alexander William Swegan Joseph Yakubisyn and plans call for four more officers and four airmen next year.

Fourteen New Staff Replacements Made

The board of trustees approved fourteen new staff replacements including nine teachers and five administrative additions. Notable appointments include Dr. Benjamin Mehlman as assistant professor of psychology and Ben G. Burnett in political science.

Fresh Display Winners Named in Kent Chamber Contest

Terese Green's florist shop and Robert Swartout's photographic studio won first and second place in the Kent Chamber of Commerce Freshman Week window contest. Mrs. Green wins again in as many contests and each winner received tickets to Kansas State University football games. Honorable mentions went to Campus Supply, Wright stores, Smoke Shop and Donaghy's drug store. Judges were Michael J. Radock, Robert Morrow, and Loris Troyer. Other entrants included Purcell's men's shop Style Center Rastall's men's shop Getz Brothers hardware Standard Drug Store and C. Bissley & Sons.
