Hold Radio Tryouts Set for Nov 23 Broadcast

University radio workshop invites all students to tonight’s 7:30 session in Studio A to stage tryouts for a broadcast to be aired November 23 over WAKR. Assistant Professor Walton D. Clarke says students will handle production from direction to sound effects.

Popcorn Prices Lower As Veterans Take Over

Two university students Sheldon Friedland and Sheldon Lessem opened a popcorn stand in Kent with a slogan about a 10-cent box. Their competitor threatened to fight them and even sell popcorn at a nickel a box. Both Friedland and Lessem are war veterans and sophomores.

Teachers Attend Language Meeting at Baldwin-Wallace College

Eight members of the modern language department join the fall gathering of the Modern Language Section of the Ohio College Association at Baldwin-Wallace College. Attendees include Dr. F. One male cheerleader will be chosen today at 4 p.m. in the W A A athletic field of 119K. Primary eliminations were held yesterday, narrowing the field from six to three contestants.

Student council discusses Mickey Dover petition proposing aspirants prove ability. Dover wants a five minute extemporaneous talk before a student assembly. Roy Apple notes 4800 enrollment means 48 reps would speak for a month, leaving no time for questions. A second Dover proposal calls for a 300 word campaign article in the Kent Stater, which Apple says needs six Staters over three weeks of front pages.

Russia U S Must Cooperate Says Erica Mann

German novelist and Thomas Mann daughter Erica Mann urged cooperation between Russia and the United States to denazify Germany. Speaking on Education for Peace at a WWI armistice anniversary event, she praised allied unity as the path to a solution and defended Nazi war crimes trials as just with ample documentary evidence.
