A pep rally awaits the Golden Flashes behind Merrill Hall as they prepare to depart by bus at 6 30 tonight for their game with Ohio Wesleyan tomorrow. Several hundred students and women’s dormitory representatives are expected, with cheerleaders and the university band providing music.
Chairman George Inscho refused to seat six agents at the allocations meeting, saying he followed council rules to seat only approved agents. He blamed missing names for past confusion as eight members debated trimming activities from the budget.
At 7 06 Kent time 3050 eligible males face 1100 coeds as KSU kicks off its sixth Sadie Hawkins day. Activities run until sundown then men may relax from imposition. The night features Art Seyler orchestra at Wills Gym from 9 to midnight. Entry requires activity cards and Dogpatch style attire. Richard Beckwith announces a free date bureau. a Daisy Mae style contest is planned. Agnes Sawyer could not provide judges list by Thursday.
Kirk Willis assistant director of the Cleveland Playhouse will speak on The Work of the Actor at the second annual high school drama clinic tomorrow sponsored by the school of speech. A graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University he has been on the Playhouse staff since 1930 and has appeared in more than 150 productions. Fosdick Speaks lantern slides and discussion highlighted the Easy Chair program last night in Moulton hall music room J A Fosdick assistant professor of photography lectured on How to Improve Your Pictures.
Announced today, tryouts for another male cheerleader will be held Monday at 4 p.m. in the auditorium. Candidates must be available during basketball season and weekends.
The Freshman Players present East Lynne Tuesday to Thursday starring Lilian Manis and Kenneth Telford with a wide cast. Tickets go on sale in the halls today. A Friday November 15 show is canceled due to a KSU Akron game conflict.
Erika Mann eldest daughter of Thomas Mann will discuss Education for Peace in a 2 p.m. Monday assembly. She is a German born author and journalist, a BBC radio analyst, and has written plays and books for magazines while in the United States since 1936. Classes will not be excused.
The World Student Service Fund drive starts Monday with a theme World Education is the Key to World Peace. Cups will be placed in fraternity and sorority houses and two central collection boxes will collect for the Greeks and Independents. Co chairs Jeannie Cook and George Hoy.
Robert C. Baker, chairman of Independent Student Association survey committee, announced surveys are circulated for approval or disapproval of a daily Stater. Results will be shared with States staff, student council, allocations committee and publications policy committee after 2,500 students sign.
Juniors will be photographed for the Chestnut Burr between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. outside the east end of Merrill hall. Students are to form groups of 10 for the portraits.
Mrs. Lena Ward, lunchroom supervisor, says the Moulton hall music room turned commuters’ lunchroom is underused with fewer than 25 students eating there daily. The room, able to serve 100 an hour, operates 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
Activities are open for the annual Manchester cup race inviting all university men to enter in sports art photography music writing speech and games. The cup has existed 11 years and was not presented in 1945 or 1946 with Dean of Men Raymond E. Manchester promising printed race explanations.
Blue Key will name new pledges at a 4 p.m. Wednesday meeting. George Insche, president, says members are chosen on the basis of activities, point average and character.
