The Freshman class hosts an all day event at Geauga Lake Park from 2 p m to 10 p m with signup today before 4 p m in front of the gym. Paid dues admit free. unpaid guests pay 50 cents. Park officials offer half price on rides. upperclassmen barred except as noted.

Four Kent State Professors Honored at Faculty Dinner

A farewell dinner at the university dining room honored four retiring Kent State professors Dr. Oscar H. Williams Prof. Stephen A. Harbourt Prof. John Thomas Johnson and Prof. Edgar Packard. Flashes Win Seventh Over Ashland 10 to 4

Kent defeated Ashland 10 to 4 at Rockwell field as Jim Richcreek and Kent’s bats struggled for hits against Danny Gulgin who earned his third win. Kent’s Wayne Griffith led with a homer and two singles while Clark shut out the Flashes after the fifth. The victory marks Kent’s seventh win of the season with two losses and sets up a return clash at Ashland next Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

Ten Groups Enter Annual Boat Regatta at Kent State

Ten groups including seven Greek organizations and three independents entered the second annual Rowboat Regatta to be held Saturday June 1. Race starts at Standing Rock and finishes beneath the Main Street bridge with both river banks cleared for spectators. Trophies include one rotating and one permanent sponsored by Karpers and Robin Hood. Kent Stater and sponsors promote the event.

La Fe elected new officers Monday night with Norma Bartholomew as president Ann Stadler as vice president Ruth Osborne as secretary and Margaret Godfrey as treasurer.

Commencement notices for June processions announced

The faculty and graduating seniors meet at the library for the baccalaureate procession at 2 30 p m Sunday June 2. Faculty gather east side graduates west side with march order given then. They all meet again at 9 30 a m Friday June 7. If rain the processions move to the gymnasium. Commencement Committee Dr H E Stelson.

Watts Receives Ohio State Graduate Scholarship

Jack Watts former 1939 40 Kent Stater editor has been awarded a one year graduate school scholarship at Ohio State University. He hails from Gold Park Ontario Canada and is the first journalism major from Kent State to receive the honor. Watts is a member of Blue Key and Chi Pi and will graduate from Kent State in June.
