Kent's ninth annual scholarship day will honor nearly 100 students for meritorious achievement in various classes. The event begins at 10 a.m. in the University auditorium with an Assembly program including AAC inspectors and speeches by Dr Grace B Sherrer.
NYA director Dr Lester H Munzenmayer announced that students on NYA or with applications on file since September 1939 may renew by Form 304. New applicants should obtain the full form and submit to the NYA committee chair at the earliest convenience. Approval is not guaranteed and government continuation is not implied. The coming year's program is expected to remain in the same scope as the current year.
Twenty three outstanding Ohio high school students were awarded four year scholarships to Kent State University yesterday. Dr H W Hudson chairman of the University scholarship committee announced the results.
University students sign petitions to Ohio Public Utilities Commission for a planned Akron to Cleveland bus line via Kent. Goodyear officials endorse, citing worker convenience, while opponents fear adverse effects on their routes.
The University Men's Glee Club closed its season with a concert before a student assembly at Stow High School. Directed by Bruce C. Handley the show featured Art Baldwin as soloist.
Kent State's May Queen of 1941 will be crowned tomorrow at 6 p m on the front campus with a campus Night program of new features. Cardinal Key announces madrigal singing a town crier dancing and wind of the Maypole among added attractions.
Dr. K. C. Leebrick president and Dr. Earl W. Cre craft dean with Mona Fletcher plan a trip to Indiana for the third annual Midwest Political Science Association meeting at the Potawatomi Inn Pokagon State Park.
Kent State hosts the Third Annual Rowboat Regatta on the Cuyahoga river May 31 from Standing Rock to the Main Street Bridge. Fraternities sororities clubs may enter and entries must be filed with George Fleischer by May 27 1941.
The University library will remain open to students on May 30. Memorial Day, it was announced yesterday. Books will be available for use in the building only and the usual holiday loaning period will not be observed as classes resume Saturday morning.
YWCA members plan ideas for next fall and will appoint committee chairmen at the final meeting of the year tonight at 7 in the Women's League room, Moulton hall. Members are urged to attend.
