The Rowboat Regatta moves from May 19 to May 26 at Bradylake with Gloria Donnelly and Pat Raleigh heading the committee. Events run 1 30 to 6 30 p m and tests for student deferments occur 9 a m to 1 p m. Boats provided by the States for fraternity sorority and independent entrants. oarsmen must pass a swimming test.
Bob Chester and his orchestra perform in the Chicago area for campus day events. John Kapioltas, chair of the University social committee, says a contract was finalized after prior attempts. The Campus day queen judging is moved to May 22 with rules unchanged and entries urged from junior and senior girls with a 2.0 average. The parade and song fest precede a 9 pm to 1 am dance in the Moulton Music room on June 2 2 pm parade, 5:30 song fest.
Two Kent students will participate in a mock United Nations Security Council session in Cleveland at the Central YMCA tomorrow at 2 p.m. Clement James Gleason of the International Relations club and James Gabriel will represent the United States as colleges across northeastern Ohio take part. The discussion topic is The Rearmament of Germany and the students will submit a resolution on U.S. foreign policy.
Blue Key forms for membership are available to all junior and senior men in the Dean of Men's office. Applications must be returned by 4 p.m. Monday, May 14.
Cardinal Key leads activities for a campus Family Day Sunday with open houses in Stopher hall MPE building and Arts building. Mothers of Engleman residents attend a Wiener roast Saturday night and tea Sunday. The highlight is a 3 p.m. concert by the University Symphonic Band directed by Roy D. Metcalf featuring works by Bach Gossec Weber Sousa Morrissey and soloist William Sayre.
Greeks from sororities and fraternities will compete in May Day Relays on the Rockwell library front lawn Thursday May 17 at 6 30 p m. Men will race in events including a discus throw rooster fight and egg throw while women run a peanut push costume relay gunny sack race and a potato eating marathon with insignias bearing their organization names.
Editor Murray Campbell says today is the final day for students to secure vouchers for the Chestnut Burr's first publication. Those who miss today must wait for Burrs first shipment to receive vouchers. Distribution begins Saturday May 26.
Four firms will send representatives to the Appointments bureau in the Atrium next week. On Tuesday at 10 a m Federal department stores will interview women for summer sales work in their two new Cleveland stores. Some permanent help will be needed. Also Tuesday Liberty Mutual Insurance will seek applicants for claims adjustor positions. On Wednesday John Hancock Insurance will see students interested in underwriting. Babcock and Brown of Cleveland will interview accounting knowledgeable applicants on Thursday.
The annual awards banquet honored debaters with bronze keys to first year varsity recipients Sheldon Portman Joyce Ritzman Al Ponius and Don Rice silver keys for second year debaters Bette Cosetti and Tom McManus and a gold key for the three year varsity debater Geraldine Carroll.
