Ogden Nash, famed writer of light verse and co author of One Touch of Venus, speaks in the university auditorium at 1 p.m. His talk titled Midway Through Nash covers writing influences and includes poetry readings. Born in Rye New York he is a Yankee with Southern roots and Harvard alumnus who worked as a bond salesman before turning to literature.

Injuries After Car Collision Involving Norton and Bean
Mrs. Catherine M. Norton, an instructor of speech, suffered back injuries when the car she rode in was struck by a vehicle driven by university student Don Bean. The crash happened at the corner of E College and S Depeyster streets. Bean reportedly failed to stop at a sign before turning onto College. Norton was admitted to Robison Memorial hospital.

Navy Seeks Air Cadets for Naval Reserve Program
Two naval officers will interview university men on Thursday May 11 to select aviation cadets for training at the University of the Air Pensacola Florida. Recruits undergo eighteen months ground and flight training then thirty months in the naval reserve as commissioned officers. Eligibility requires at least two years of college, single status, and age under 27 plus mental and physical exams.

Pilot Wins Trophy At National Intercollegiate Air Meet
William Huebner of the flying team won first prize in navigation at Stephens College in the National Intercollegiate Air Meet. He flew a 70 mile course in a rented Aeronca Champion, missing his estimated time by two seconds without a watch or clock. He received the Walter Beech trophy from Ken Newland as the Beech Aircraft company honors. The team did not place in other events. it was the KSA’s first national meet with nineteen colleges represented.
