Entries must be turned in to the States office by 5 p.m. Friday May 9 with a $7.50 fee. The amount covers sponsoring a queen candidate and rowboat races. Four races will crown independent men and women fraternities and sororities. Queen judging May 20 and final at Rowboat Regatta.
Tomorrow a tag day will be held to raise funds for the World Student Service Fund. Student groups including fraternities and sororities will compete to sell tags from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on campus and at a booth in Mer rill hall. Proceeds support medical aid, rest centers, refugee aid, educational supplies, and emergency needs for students in other countries.
University Appointments bureau to conduct a series of job interviews this week. Interviews occur at Union with locations 204 or 206 Union and feature firms such as Mayfield schools Pickards Mather and Company Central National Bank Liberty Mutual Insurance National Lithographing Elyria schools.
Barbara Balson was named Burr Queen for the 1952 Chestnut Burr distribution. Her attendants are Marithorese Burr Vivian Geltz and Joan Ryder. Vouchers for Burrs may be picked up at the warehouse near the main parking lot from 12 to 4 p.m.
All drum majors and majorettes and students wishing to baton twirl with marching bands are asked to meet at 4 p.m. tomorrow in 307 Merrill. Former and new band members preparing for Twin Bands on Campus day should report for practice at 6 p.m. tomorrow in 309 Merrill.
Actor Basil Rathbone will appear in the Auditorium on Tuesday May 13 at 11 a.m. He will combine dramatic performances with a lecture titled The Magic of the Theatre. The Assembly committee sponsors the event.
Rehearsal will be held tonight for the May 27 presentation of Gabriel Raure's Requiem. The session begins at 7:30 p.m. in room 309 Merrill, led by choral director Robert Foulkes.
Gamma Phi Delta sororities and Moulton Hall won carnival trophies as KSU held its Penny Carnival. Crepe paper and lights festooned tennis courts behind Wills gym for four hours as nearly 1,000 students and townspeople attended. Blue Key and Cardinal Key sponsored the event.
The last regular meeting of the senior class memorial committee will be held at 4 p.m. today in 203 Union. Chairman Jerry Mc Fadden has asked all members to be present.
Kent State University hosts its third annual symposium on architecture May 15 in the Arts building from 2 to 5 p.m. An informal Union dinner follows, then at 7 30 p.m. the northeast Ohio chapter of the American Institute of Planners meets. John Bonebrake and J Gordon McGay headline as speakers.
Theta Kappa Phi will conduct a campus wide Stater Penny fund collection today and the next two days. Members with containers will visit campus departments at Ohio State University after missing Penny Carnival due to a Tri-Chapter meet. Tony Ferrato and Ed Core head the effort.
The event raises a total of 742.80 to be divided among WSSF cancer drive Stater Penny fund Blue Key and Cardinal Key scholarships. Gamma Phi Beta earns 101.75 topping sororities. Delta Tau Delta leads fraternities with 58.23 using a talent mouse and spinning wheel. Independent entries like Moulton hall raise 33.40. Alpha Xi Delta is second with 45. Delta Zeta third at 33.87. Delta Upsilon is runner up with 36.61. Sigma Delta 29.36. American Commons 33.10 and Engleman hall 28.50 win independent honors.
Kent State student Evelyn Kolesar will perform a senior recital featuring Handel and Mozart works plus a scherzo for flute piano and voice. Raymond de Mattia will play flute with Gene Hartzell on piano. She is active in Newman club directs church choirs and studies voice with Eleanor Pudil.
