Kent Faculty Students Win Awards In Art Show
Kent State faculty members won several awards at the 29th Annual May Show of Akron area artists at the Akron Art Institute. Mary Ann Scherr took first in jewelry, Harold Kitner second, and Robert Morrow honorable mention in watercolor. Kent resident winners were Hazel Janski third in oil and Barbara P. Morrow second in prints. Ray Glenn, a Kent student, had numerous jewelry pieces accepted. Judge Zoltan Sepesky praised the winners as strong as national competitions.

KAM Pictures Due Today for Outstanding Publications Photographer Award
Entries for the Kappa Alpha Mu Outstanding Publications Photographer Award are due today at 4 p.m. Submissions include ten 8 by 10 glossy prints with five previously published in a student publication and five at the photographer’s choice. Robert L. McMahen and Edward Cliney will judge. the award will be presented at the publications banquet on May 9.

May Day Relays Declare Sigma Nu Victory Over Phi Sigma Kappa
Sigma Nu and Alpha Xi Delta won the May Day relays held near the library. Sigma Nu claimed the 18 inch achievement trophy after a twister relay playoff with Phi Sigma Kappa. Ben Steele and Jack Mancos sealed the final win for Sigma Nu. Betty Kalish of Gamma Phi Beta presented awards before about 500 spectators.

Vouchers Ready for 1952 Chestnut Burr Distribution
Editors describe the Kent State portrait project as Kent State and its students. 4,500 Burr yearbooks arrived in Chicago and will be distributed via vouchers in Merrill Hall corridor today and Monday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vouchers exchange for Burrs begin Tuesday.

Ohio district scholarship tests draw 600+ students here
More than 600 students from 80 area high schools will take the Ohio District Scholarship tests this Saturday. Over 13,000 students are expected for state wide exams at Ohio universities. Kent State is one of six colleges in northeastern Ohio hosting the test.

Candida Tickets Free for Students at University Theatre
Tickets for all remaining performances of Candida are free for students with activity cards at a table near Kent hall. Townspeople pay 60 cents. The play opens in the new Studio Theatre, with Marcia Hill in the title role and a cast including Si Lee, William Feaster, James Tushar, Norma Remmy, and Ken Ward. Directed by Prof. E Turner Stump.

Penny Carnival Opens With Open Air Night At Terrace Drive
Open this Saturday at 7 p m Penny Carnival offers booths and games from penny tossing to miniature golf. Admission is 10 cents, booths line tennis court areas with prizes and trophies for winners. Proceeds split among WSSF Cancer drive Stater Penny fund and Cardinal-Blue Key Scholarship.
