ISA representative Bill Sitler accused the Blue and Gold council of constitutional violations after most officer candidates failed to file acceptance of nomination by the deadline. He urged voiding all elected officers and seating Martha Buckles while demanding full attendance at today’s 4 p.m. meeting in room 108K.
Campus day rules restrict solos and appearances. Eight groups must not exceed seven minutes and members need a 2.0 GPA. Songs judged on tone, interpretation, diction, spirit, dynamics, intonation and following the leader. Independent sorority and fraternity groups must submit organization name, song and leader to the Dean of Women's office by 4 p.m. Friday May 5.
Tau Kappa pledge class will select a Pledge Queen at the all university dance in the Union ballroom Friday from 9 p.m. to midnight. Two attendants will join the queen who will receive a trophy with the inscription during intermission. Entries by sorority pledges close today and tomorrow at Merrill hall. Jack Moga and his orchestra will play. tickets cost 1.00 per couple or 0.60 per person.
Sun-Life Insurance company will conduct interviews for insurance underwriter positions tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. The interview location is not yet decided. interested applicants should check at the appointments office.
Veterans using the GI bill must cancel their 15 day leave if desired. The leave runs from June 10 to June 25. Cancellations can be made at the Coordinator's office in front of the old Hub.
Alpha Phi Omega announces a 1950 project to place a Victory bell to sound after Kent State teams win. The bell, sourced from Erie Railroad, will sit on Rockwell commons between the Union and Stopher Hall. Monument plans by Robert C. Gaede and Joseph F. Morbito. John Riva builds models.
Serge Chermayeff president of the Chicago Institute of Design will address the general assembly at 11 a.m. as part of an all day symposium on architecture. The program includes an afternoon discussion on education practice and industry with speakers John Shear J Byers Hays and R J Graef and is chaired by Walter B Huff.
Students interested in working on the 1951 Chestnut Burr are invited to a meeting tomorrow in room 2060 at 4 p.m. Murray Campbell is the newly appointed editor guiding the effort.
A roundtable on The Arts United or Disunited will be held tomorrow at 8 p.m. in 317 McG. Elmer L. Novotny, head of the School of Art, moderates with representatives from Art, Music, Speech, Philosophy, and English faculties.
The candidate was the only nominee to submit a timely statement of nomination acceptance to the Elections Committee before noon on April 10. Other acceptance statements were presented to the Student Council on April 11 at 4 p.m. Sitler claimed he did not protest during the 48 hour window due to lack of knowledge of the situation. Chuck Fletcher said any unconstitutional actions were done without evil intent. Irv Wheatley adjourned the meeting citing irregularities and low attendance.
Three School of Art faculty win prizes at the Akrona Art Institute May show. Robert Morrow earns first for Equinox water color and second for Pitch Man oil. His wife takes third in graphic arts for Pigs serigraph. Nina Humphrey wins first in weaving. Robert Day gets second for Pep Talk copper engraving. Exhibits include works by Paul Jean Baus and John Riva.
