Rowboat Regatta Set For June 3 On Campus

Kent Stater reports the tenth annual Rowboat Regatta will be held Saturday June 3 with races among fraternities sororities and independent groups. The event features a bathing beauty queen contest entertainment parade and a giant picnic for contestants and spectators. Last year winners were Kappa Sigma Chi Delta Gamma and Phisigma club with queen Joan Hammersmith chosen from Alpha Phi Beta nominees.

Record Rendezvous kicks off Sharks Aqua Antics show

The Sharks club hosts its second annual Aqua Antics show Record Rendezvous opening tomorrow night with synchronized swimming routines from the women’s group. Performances run 8 15 p m Thursday and Friday as the pool doubles as a record shop.

Flying Squad Sets Trials for National Air Meet Team

The university flying squad holds eliminations today to form a five man team for the National intercollegiate air meet at Stephens College in Columbia Missouri. Coach William C Lowry will lead the 600 mile trip in three planes. Trophies await in precision flying and navigation. Last year Kent State placed third at Kalamazoo Michigan.

New student council members will be installed at a meeting in 2050 today at 4 p.m. Irv Wheatley, retiring council president, urges all old and new members to be present.

Cardinal Key Applications Deadline Set by Women’s Office

Deadline to return Cardinal Key applications is tomorrow per Jo Fiocca president of the women’s service honorary. Eligibility requires juniors and seniors with a 2.5 cumulative average. Selection will be based on scholarship character and activities.

Family Day Program Set at Campus for May 14

Mother's day May 14 is the scheduled Family Day in the campus program. Co chairmen Hildegarde Boehm and Janice Flickenber lead the event with Cardinal Key members conducting tours. Faculty will be present, with committee members Rose Fiori and Joan Schilling assisting from 2 to 6 p.m.

Irene Brodbeck senior in education and music presents a senior recital at 8:15 p.m. in Union auditorium with Brahms, Moussorgsky, Bach and arias from La Bohème and Madame Butterfly. Accompanist is Neil Davis. Phyllis Phillips graduate recital Glass Menagerie at 3:15 p.m. in University auditorium. she portrays all roles and has a theater background with Alpha Psi Omega membership.

Stater Receives First Class ACP Honor at OCNA Event

The Stater earned a first class rating from the Associated Collegiate Press for the year ending May 1 1950 and received honorable mention in make up and typography at the OCNA convention in Cincinnati. Photographer Dick Ellers won third place for Mid Fever. delegates Carol Hart John Koshar and Dick Knab attended. Hart served as OCNA president this year. The 25th annual convention will be held here next year.

Lady Diplomat Ruth Rohde to Speak on Peaceful World

Ruth Bryan Rohde America's first woman diplomat and first woman in Congress will lecture on Our Responsibility for a Peaceful World at 11 a.m. in the auditorium. She served on the Congressional Foreign Affairs Committee and was U.S. Minister to Denmark before turning to lectures and writing. Her work includes Look Forward Warrior and UN studies.
