Spaghetti Eating Champ Lenny Myers Dominates Contest

Lenny Myers of Alpha Epsilon Pi wins the first annual Greek Spaghetti eating contest at Ray's Place, finishing one pound in two and a half minutes. Fraternity rivals from Kappa Sigma and others also competed as judges and spectators praised his speed and technique.

June August Graduates Urged to Register for Job Opportunities

June and August graduates at all three colleges should register with the bureau of appointments to receive notices of job opportunities and interviews, says Lester H. Munzenmayer director and education professor. He notes high industry demand for graduates to move into management and a growing need for trained women in engineering, while warning that hiring may avoid those likely to be drafted within six to twelve months. Interviews for June graduates start in early April, so timely registration is urged.

Beard Ball Final Plans Discussed at Union Meeting

In 2020 at 4 this afternoon the Men’s Union will discuss final plans for tomorrow night’s beard dance. All members are urged to attend, according to president Harry Moldovan.

Pork Barrel Takes One Night Stand

The independent men's division includes Chialpha club Sig ma alpha Delta Sigma Pi Ameri can Commons club Stopher hall and the House of Olin. A third division adds two women’s demi tories and four coed groups such as Moulton hall Engleman hall Newman club Independent Students association Wesley Players and United Christian fellowship. Eliminations occur earlier in the final performance week with outside judges. Tryouts for masters of ceremonies and between acts will be held early next quarter.

SC Tries Increase In Voting Plans

Student council discussed plans to boost next quarter voter turnout in the Union. Sandy Weiss and Harry Moldovan were named publicity chairs for the elections committee and Chuck DiSalle joined the committee. The athletic scholarship fund is in progress with decisions pending. Top Hop and Campus Day dates were set for February 16 and May 24.

Tag Day Brings In About 600 For WSSF Drive

Approximately 600 was collected in yesterday’s Tag Day drive per WSSF chairman Joanne Kanzaki. With 200 already raised, KSU nears a 1000 goal. A final report will detail amounts by Greek and other groups plus books and used clothing tallies by Jim Hoyt and Betty Mercer.

White warns steel collapse if Communists gain Africa Brazil

Walter White of the NAACP warned in the auditorium that U S steel could collapse if Communists gain control of manganese rich Africa and nearby regions including the Congo. He cited racial tensions in Memphis and questioned trust between nations and the United States. He mocked media and politics while noting Dixiecrat influence in Congress.

Wiggington Wins Ugly Man Title At Fraternity Contest

Kent State’s Clay Wiggington was named Ugly Man as Kappa Sigma backed him in the Alpha Phi Omega barbershop quartet event in the Union ballroom. Wiggington collected 30 votes while Chuck Kelly and Bill Detweiler placed second and third, with $90 raised for a victory bell near Stopher Hall.
