Bearded Gents to Be Photographed and Honored at Friday Events

The Kent Stater plans a 4 pm photo of bearded men at the Union ballroom with six week board contest winners to be announced at the Oldtimers Dance in Wills gym from 9 pm to midnight. Judges include Dean Manchester and Prof Davidson. Tony Emanuel of Kent is the barber.

Senate Favors 18 Year Old Draft Bill

The Senate backed drafting 18 year olds under a two tier plan while an amendment to bar under 18 and six months failed. The defense push argues the move could allow recalled reservists with Korean War duty to return, as sponsors aim to pass the bill with few changes.

Stump to Head Speech Meeting Dinner Speaker

Prof E Turner Stump head of the school of speech will deliver the principal after-dinner talk at the sixth annual Ohio Association of Speech and Hearing Therapists meeting. The two day event on March 22 23 on campus targets cleft palate speech stuttering and hearing rehabilitation drawing about 150 attendees with several medical specialists on the program led by Miss Eleanor Gray Kent assistant professor of speech and new vice president of the group.

Dr Gordon Keith Chalmers president of Kenyon College will speak at the Kent Congregational church dinner tonight at 6 15. he holds honorary degrees from three universities and has edited the American Oxonian since 1946. Dr Dwight Arnold chairs the meeting for the Kent AAUP chapter.

WSSF Tag Day Drives Student and Faculty Fund Collection

A concerted WSSF drive for funds for students and professors in need is organized by religious independent dormitory and Greek groups under Joanne Kanzaki. Tag Day tomorrow asks donations at fraternity pledge booths. Used clothing and second hand books may be left in dorms and houses. books also collected in the University bookstore. Skeds Change For Open Gym And Pool

Prof. Frank Ballenger announced changes to gym and pool hours. Open gym will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 30 p m. Open pool shifts to 3 to 4 30 p m Monday through Thursday and 2 to 4 30 p m on Sunday due to the district basketball tournament.
