Cleveland Orchestra Set To Play At University June 28

The Cleveland Orchestra will perform at 8 30 p m on Tuesday June 28 at the university as part of a summer program lineup. The program includes works by Tschaikowsky Wagner Strauss and Gershwin plus an orchestral fantasy by Gregory Stone.

Publisher Wanted for University "K" Book

The university seeks a person or organization on campus to publish the "K" Book. Contact Prof. Carleton J. Smyth in the News Bureau office as soon as possible. The book must be ready by the start of the next fall quarter and the publisher will receive 50 dollars.

Raymond Moran Accepts Student Center Appointment

Former athletics manager and commerce assistant professor Raymond Moran will resign teaching duties to become director of activities at the new $800 000 student center effective July 1. Jacob R. Urchek of Warren will replace Moran in athletics. Moran is a World War II veteran and Akron Central High School graduate.

WKSU Seeks Student Help for Broadcasting Season

WKSU invites students to attend a meeting in studio A this afternoon at 1 p.m. to organize the coming broadcasting season. The campus station began last quarter, operates at 560 kilocycles with five watts, and is heard only on campus.

Record Summer Enrollment Reaches New Peak At 3524 Students

The university reports 3524 students enrolled for the summer quarter including nurses. More may be added. Veterans make up the majority of the enrollment, though the veteran to non veteran ratio has fallen. The graduate school rose to about 450 students, up about 200 from last summer. Last year the summer enrollment was 3153.

West and Baldridge Lead University Paper Staff

Robert West becomes editor-in-chief for the summer session at the university newspaper. George Baldridge is named summer business manager, a Twin Lakes resident and junior in accounting in the College of Business Administration. West is a liberal arts senior and former editor under prior editors.

Hartzell Receives Doctor's Degree at Cincinnati Commencement

Prof Ralph E Hartzell head of the School of Music awarded his doctorate at the University of Cincinnati during commencement on June 10. His dissertation explored tonality apprehension and tonal memory in young children. He earned a bachelor of music in 1930 and joined Kansas State University in 1948 as head of the music school.

How To Read Conference At Kent State University

Kent State University hosts its third annual Reading conference June 27 to July 1 focusing on how to read. About 200 attendees will include educators such as Dr. Donald Durrell and Dr. Helen Mackintosh. Conference chair is Dr. Marion Van Campen with Dean Robert White and Prof. Verna Walters as guest speakers.

CBS newsman Douglas Edwards will speak at Kent State University as radio news editors from Ohio and nearby states gather for the first annual Radio News Editors conference.
