Character Genius Revealed In Bach Music

Commemorating Bach’s death bicentennial the University summer choir performed four Bach cantatas under Caro Carapetyan with Evelyn Kolesar Marjorie Barrett Roland Patzer and Peter Ulrich as soloists. Edna Carapetyan accompanied as the University orchestra supported. The program highlighted Bach’s genius and the cantatas for specific Sundays after Trinity and Easter.

Weaving Exhibition Attracts Local and University Visitors

More than 70 people attended the weaving exhibition in 202 Kent hall yesterday under Prof. Nina Humphrey former KSU art department head. Art classes 477 478 displayed rugs purses scarves and aprons woven on foot and table looms with cotton linen wool nylon and metallic threads. A weaving class from Western Reserve University attended the display.

Elyria Selects Hersman for Junior High Coach Roles

Robert Hersman of Kent State fame will coach all sports in the Elyria junior high system. He lives in Cuyahoga Falls. Steve Zvosec from Miami University is named head tennis coach and football assistant at Elyria.

Summer health education workshop third in a series runs Aug 8 to 19 on campus with topics on health education in schools and community living. Annamary Dickey stars in a concert in university auditorium Aug 2 at 8 30 p m with operatic and modern songs, following a prior season appearance by Leonard Warren.

KSU dismisses 143 students for low grades this quarter

President George A. Bowman announced that 143 Kansas State University students were dismissed at the close of the spring quarter for poor scholarship. The year’s total dismissal count reaches 283, with 64 in fall and 76 in winter. 247 placed on probation and 284 continued on probation.

Rooms Scarce At Kent University Dorms

A room shortage at Kent University endangers about 500 female students for the fall term. The three dormitories now house around 650, with 330 names on the waiting list under Mrs. Rheme Fair. Off campus housing was used by 303 students last year, forcing commuting options for many.

Locker Evacuation and Refund Policy for Summer Session

Frank Ballenger announces that students not attending the second summer session must empty lockers to receive their refund on locks. Lockers must be cleared between summer school and fall quarter or deposits will not be returned. Those needing locks or lockers for the second summer session may obtain them from the gym equipment office.
