Kent Girl Felice Faust Wins Supreme Emblem Scholarship
Felice Faust, a Kent resident and university sophomore, won one of two Supreme Emblem scholarships, beating 108 candidates. She studies radio, serves as secretary and chief sound effects engineer at the radio workshop, and is active in the university choir and local politics. The Kent Emblem club sponsored her entry. the other winner hailed from Willard, Ohio.

Industrial Arts Projects Completes Two-day Exhibit
An exhibit of industrial art projects by students over six weeks is on display from 9 to 11 a.m. today. The show has three main parts handcraft drafting and electricity with subcategories including leather, wood, metals, textiles, clay, plastics, keeme cement and sheet metal patterns machine drawing and industrial drawing.

Art Series Final Presented by University Choir
The final program in the international art series was presented last Wednesday evening by Assistant Professor George Gove and the university summer choir. The program opened with O Lovely Heart and The Lord’s Prayer, followed by Go Down Moses sung by William Evans. Esther Douglass and the choir performed In Heaven Above, Van Darby closed with Palestinian Laborer’s Chant. George Gove conducted. Harold Miles accompanied.

Visitors Observe Kent Weaving Class
Miss Gertrude Saastemoinen of Western Reserve University art department and Mrs Hecker of Euclid visited Kent art school Wednesday to view the weaving class. Two campus girls, Miss Har and Miss Lee, modeled Chinese costumes sent by Mme Sun Yat sen during the Thursday afternoon Oriental art class exhibition.

Term Begins Tuesday With Summer Session Growth
Almost 500 students are expected to register for the second summer session starting Tuesday July 31 with more than 250 pre registered. The first summer session drew over 750 as enrollments rise. MOULTON hall hosts a secretary workshop August 1 2 and 3 sponsored by the college of education and the Ohio Association of School Secretaries with at least 45 secretaries slated to attend. President George A Bowman opens the program with a speech August 1 at 10 am. Dean J L Blair chairs the event aimed at clarifying secretarial duties.

Bond Drive Surpasses Kent State Quota
Dr. Donald Anthony head of business administration announces Kent State’s 7th war loan drive has sold or pledged over $65,000 in bonds, far above the $28,000 quota. Former Student in MacArthur Honor Guard Named
Raymond R. Porter Tech. fifth grade was selected as one of 100 men from the Pacific theater for General Douglas MacArthur's honor guard. He guards installations and personnel at headquarters and serves as an escort for visiting dignitaries. Porter, a Kent graduate of 1940, holds two campaign ribbons and badges.

Cleveland Woman Commissioned as Army Medical Corps Officer
Emily Anne Dolenc of Cleveland has been commissioned a second lieutenant in the Army Medical Corps as a hospital dietitian. She begins basic training at the Army Nurses Training Center at Camp Swift Texas with a four week program to prepare for service, after studying at Kent State University and Brooke General Hospital Fort Sam Houston.
