Old-Time Shaving Mugs On Display In Library Exhibit

A library display features 30 shaving mugs from Edwin M. Fuller of Kent. Miss Helen L. Blood and Mrs. Irene Miller organized the exhibit, showcasing varied designs and floral motifs. Shaving mugs, popular since 1860, adorned barber shops with owner’s name and trade symbols, including a dentist mug noted in the collection.

Five Get RW Script Roles at Radio Workshop Tryouts

Five male actors were chosen at Radio Workshop tryouts to perform on WAKR Akron Saturday at 10. They will dramatize Blind Escape a script by Clem Scerback a university student. The cast includes Phil Newman Bill Zucchero Al Newman Harding Olson and Ara Carapetyan. Jim McDonald will direct with assistant Gene Mekler.

Martha Graham to perform modern dance at university

Martha Graham will present a program of modern dances at the university auditorium next Wednesday February 9 with a full company including Erick Hawkins. A special orchestra under Eugene Lester will provide musical accompaniment and tickets are on sale at the Kent hall ticket booth.

Campus Presidents To Escort Miss Kent State To Throne

Miss Kent State of 1949 will be escorted by campus organization presidents at Top Hop intermission in Wills Gym. The presentation occurs between 10 and 11 p.m. Tickets are $1.50 per couple at Kent Hall. proceeds go to the Social committee fund. Rippling Rhythm by Shep Fields and orchestra plays 9 p.m. to midnight with Toni Arden.

Symphony Debut Conducted by Laszlo Krausz in Cleveland

Laszlo Krausz led the Cleveland Little Symphony in his American debut at the university auditorium. The two hour program opened with Geminiani Concertino Opus 3 No 3, continued with Haydn Symphony No 85, then Mozart Overture Marriage of Figaro, and closed with Beethoven Symphony No 1 in C Major Op 21.
