Boosters Top Goal Of 1000 Members In Drive

A last minute surge in booster club memberships pushed the drive past its 1,000 member goal. Mickey Dover, president, announced the achievement yesterday. Eight campus Greek organizations earned 100 percent status, with plaques to be announced in Tuesday's Stater after final returns are checked. Phi Beta Phi, Beta Gamma, Gamma Sigma Phi, Theta Sigma Upsilon, Gamma Tau Delta, Delta Phi Sigma, and others claimed full participation.

Carnival Set For Feb 14 as Penny Carnival Leaders Named

Four university students were appointed to head the Penny Carnival committee to be held Friday night February 14. Cardinal Key and Blue Key sponsor the event to raise funds for scholarships. Kaye Tolt and George Insche said proceeds support scholarships. The four Key members will begin planning today at 4 PM.

Vindicator Editor to Speak at Journalism Banquet

William L. Powers of the Youngstown Vindicator will be guest speaker at the Chi Pi journalism banquet on Feb. 5 at the Mayflower hotel Akron. New Kent Stater and Chestnut Burr editors and business managers will be named. awards for outstanding university publications will be given.

Library Seeks 400 Sunday Readers to Save Trial

Librarian John B. Nicholson says the Sunday library privilege must boost usage. For a four week test, average 400 students per Sunday is required, with last Sunday falling 82 short of the minimum. Three Sundays remain in the experiment.

Ex Marines form campus Marine Corps club at KSU

University ex Marines organize a Marine Corps club with an organizational meeting set for Monday at 7 pm in room 210 Kent Hall. Don Tiedmond, founder and organizer, hopes to form a drill team for campus activities while only six of about 150 ex Marines have contacted him so far. Navy medics or corpsmen attached to the unit are mentioned.

Marines Eligible To Decide Club Type Leader Says

Tiedmond, who organized a Lakemore club, says members must choose whether the group is local or National League of Marines affiliated. He notes those merely attached to the Marine Corps cannot vote under league rules.

IFC Approves Alpha Epsilon as Seventh Fraternity on Campus

The inter fraternity council ratified Alpha Epsilon as the seventh campus fraternity in a unanimous vote Wednesday night. Roy Apple, council president, announced the approval after Alpha Epsilon began recognition plans last May with 16 students.

The Independent Students Association will elect officers to fill three vacancies Monday at 7 30 p m in room 219 Kent Hall. President William Thrasher says students interested in directing the group should attend.

Queen Cards Due Monday for Miss Kent State

Petitions for Miss Kent State require at least 470 signatures and are due by noon Monday in the student council office. Junior and senior girls may compete. Petitions are available at the student council office. Elections committee meets Monday at 3 p.m. to review applications, chair Dona Mae Burkhardt says.

Council Allocates Winter Funds Under Partial Percentage Plan

Student allocations committee approved 20 836 dollars for the winter quarter in a two hour session. Varsity athletics lost 2 000 while the Burr received 8 566. A referendum guaranteed income for winter and receipts from Top Hop filled a deficit. The old budget method persists with debate on improvements and a peaceful vote.

Othello Rehearsals Open With Casting Incomplete
