Kent State Eyes Purchase of Akron Airport Buildings

Kent State University asked the Ohio legislature to allocate funds to buy hangars and facilities at the 200 acre Kent Stow road field formerly owned by Akron Airways. The move would add aeronautics courses and enable expanded training including airplane mechanics and possibly aviation ROTC, with potential air hostess training discussions.

Taylor Girls Begin Rehearsals for University Production

Parking Violators To Get Tickets

The traffic department warns no more warning notes for students parking on the south drive or blocking the drive into the new lot. Tickets will be issued to students who park three lanes deep or show continued poor judgment in parking their cars.

Milk fire in Engleman Hall kitchen causes blackout

Mrs Frances Watson housemother of the women’s dormitory detected smoke and burning rubber as milk boiled over on an electric range. The spill shorted the wiring and ignited rubber insulation, prompting firefighters to pull fuses and extinguish a small blaze.

Jap Woodcuts Display Opens at Kent Hall Gallery

Japanese woodcuts ranging from historical to modern pieces were hung yesterday in the Kent hall gallery. The display will remain until the end of the month and all prints may be purchased for the price shown at the lower right corner of each piece.

ISA will begin its 48 social session with a 7 to 9 reception in Moulton hall music room for new officers Roger Howard president Warren Lashley vice president Marge Boyle secretary and Verne Lockett treasurer. Chi Pi Sponsors One Day Drive On Campus

Chi Pi conducts a one day campaign to raise donations for the March of Dimes. Lambda Phi names Jan Kemp Eleanor Meck and Jeri Petzel to assist in collections. Donors may give at the Booster club booth between Merrill hall and the atrium. John Forrest and Bob Wentz lead the effort for Chi Pi.

Burr Queen Deadline Set for 1948 Chestnut Burr Dance

Miss Terry Pugliese announces the Burr queen contest with the dance scheduled for February 28. Junior and senior girls may enter by submitting an 8 by 10 black and white photo by Wednesday January 28 at 4 p.m. Color prints are not accepted.

Allocation figures show winter quarter funding by student council

The university departments received 28,750 in allocations with 200 for Akron drum and Youngstown College damages. Assembly and social agents were absent and Men's Union did not request funds. The remaining 1,575.78 was approved as a surplus.

A business meeting of the Inter Fraternity Council is scheduled for 4 p.m. in room 115K. Attendees will discuss organizational matters and upcoming events.
