Eleven of twelve Inter-Fraternity representatives met Tuesday night and voted nine to two to drop the Pork Barrel from the fraternity division. The event had been planned for Feb 11 12 13 14 with elimination on 13 14 and judges from Akron and Ravenna.
The campus committee met at 7 a.m. for a daily breakfast then held an evaluation to gauge student value. At 12 30 the Seda bury Series talk titled New Frontiers was scheduled and at 1 p.m. Dr J Maurice Trimmer would lecture on Religion Under the Microscope. Evening film showings included Dust of Destiny at 3 p.m. and 6 30 p.m.
The Women’s league voted to continue Pork Barrel on February 15 despite fraternities’ low participation. The Men’s union has not yet decided its formal stance. Plans for a student stunt night and the annual spring fashion show on February 27 in the Union ballroom were discussed with Burr pictures scheduled for 4 30 p.m.
The University library will close at 4 p.m. tomorrow to complete preparations for the sixth annual open house program Friday evening. The event will feature guest speaker Stanley Pargellis, librarian of the Newberry library in Chicago, and is for faculty members.
Professor William Taylor presents a Kodachrome travelogue of The Isle of Pines at 7 30 this evening in Kent Hall basement Photo Studio. The show, with Dr James P Heath, features island life rivers mountains coasts and local fishing and timber scenes with color slides. The Lens and Shutter club sponsors the free student program.
The March of Dimes drive on campus led by Alpha Xi Delta sorority and Delta Upsilon fraternity runs through Feb. 25. DU active Gene Mucciarone chairs the drive with collection boxes around campus and a pledge competition between groups.
Mike Tangi, senior class president, faces automatic removal over a 1.99 GPA, while SC fills two key committees. Jan McGarr says council averages will be checked. five students are named to Elections and Social committees as applications open.
