The council plans to appoint four Independents to the Elections committee and a vacancy on the Social committee from students today at 4 p.m. in 204 Union. Applicants must appear this afternoon or submit a written excuse. a resignation is expected, potentially creating four more vacancies to be filled at a Feb. 5 special election.
The Varsity K club plans its first annual Valentine dance in Wills gym after the Bowling Green game on February 16. A queen and two attendants will be chosen, with entry blanks detailing name, home town, GPA, sponsor, class, and a photo. Entries due February 4 to Dick Oberdorfer or Neal Hesche.
Deadline today at 4 p.m. for girls seeking Honorary Cadet Colonel and Lt Colonel titles at the annual ROTC Military ball. Require 2. ac cum average, name, Kent address, and phone. Submit to John Spear, Chuck Race, or John Stahlman. Ball set for February 21 at Meyers Lake.
The Marine Corps opens Officer Candidates Course to mid year graduates with a February 15 enrollment deadline. Plans call for 1500 new officers in 1952 and 2500 undergraduates for Platoon Leaders' Class by May 15. OC and PLC graduates may enter a five month basic school for regular commissions. Theta Sigma Phi the national journalism sorority sponsors a publicity clinic for Northeast Ohio club women in Kent on Tuesday February 12. Akron Beacon Journal Kent Courier-Tribune WAKR and Kent State University professors will lead sessions along with a luncheon and round table discussion. Reservations to Miss Julia Waida at KSU.
The KSU School of Speech sponsors a drama clinic for Northeastern Ohio high school students on Saturday January 26 starting at 9 a.m. at the university Atrium with hostess Mrs Katherine Moore Norton. Professor E Turner Stump and President George A Bowman will preside. R C Hunter will speak on Producing Classics in High School. Demonstrations follow in the Union building and the University Theatre will present Medea with an open discussion.
Dorothy Maynor, lyric soprano, performs a morning recital at 11 o clock in the auditorium. The program features Negro spirituals and works by Haydn Grieg Dvorak and Massenet with a luncheon at the Robinhood and a 3 to 4 p.m. reception in the Student Union followed by an 8 p.m. CLEW week concert.
Arlene Kyle announces CLEW book display between Kent Hall and the Atrium as part of Christian Living Emphasis Week. Ralph Lockman's The Higher Happiness is sold out but more copies will be obtained for students. Exhibit open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and tomorrow.
Kent's art department sponsors its first student alumni exhibit from today to January 31 in the Arts Building gallery. The show features oil paintings watercolors drawings and graphics. judged by Marco de Marco of the Cleveland Institute of Art with awards for first second third and honorable mention. Robert Morrow chairs the event, open to the public.
University employed students may request W-2 forms for 1951 earnings by January 30. Requests should be filed with the Treasurer's office as stated by comptroller Paul E. Beck.
