University offers late entry for graduating high school students to January graduates who leave early for training. Registrar E. C. Stopher notes only a few took the option so far and special short courses may be added if interest grows. Schools with mid year graduations may allow entry. overall enrollment not expected to rise before spring quarter.
Robert S. Abbott won first place in a Men’s Union poetry contest with his poem Se quential to Flanders Fields. Judge John Eckels awarded second to Alan Kerckhoff for his appeal for universal peace efforts. third place details are not provided.
Prof Merle Wagoner said late yesterday twenty five persons are still needed to fill positions at the Ravenna arsenal. Several other openings exist and all applicants are urged to see him immediately. Leonard Slominski won for his entry Blues with three other poems addressing war themes. judging favored idea, technique and rhyme adherence.

The first Victory Sings program resumes tonight from 7 to 8 at the training school auditorium. Ruth West, president of the Women’s Glee club, says the series will continue while in demand and aims for another successful quarter. Elinor Teele performs two solos, "Honor, Honor" and "Play Fiddle, Play," during intermission. All students, faculty, and townspeople are invited.
Prof James N Holm director of forensics says both the Ohio conference and the Peace Oratory conference will be held this spring with local and state eliminations. Interested men or women should contact Holm to begin preparation. Local prizes awarded in the peace contest while the Ohio winner advances to the mid western inter state contest late in the season.
Registrar E. C. Stopher warned of a potential faculty surplus as student enrollment fell from 2702 in Sept 1941 to 1621 in Sept 1942 while faculty dropped from 142 to 126. He noted some departments stay full but many instructors carry multi subjects and may be called to active service, shrinking faculty to student ratio.

Rehearsals for the melodrama Pure as the Driven Snow began amid uncertainty about Jim Bullock's draft status. Bullock plays the inn keeper and hero's uncle, with director E Turner Stump saying he will remain in the cast until draft obligations are resolved.
