Guildsmen To Talk Here At University Meeting

Kenneth Nichols Akron Beacon Journal columnist and two staff members will discuss Newspaper Jobs Today at a university journalism student meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in 107M. First steps to form a KSU associate member unit of the American Newspaper Guild will be discussed with Julius Greenfield and Kenneth F. Cole present. The campus unit may be the Guilds first in Ohio to organize for student journalism aims.

New York Group Performs Alice in Wonderland at Kent State

Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland will be staged at the Kent State University auditorium on Monday March 8 at 2 30 p m by the Clare Tree Major Children's Theatre of New York. The two act production is sponsored by the American Association of University Women and reserved student tickets are 50 cents at Trory's.

Accent on Youth tickets go on sale at UT theater

The University Theatre production Accent on Youth will sell tickets this week announced by theatre manager Nick Bozeka. Students can sell tickets for 10 cents each to boost attendance and contact Bozeka via his mailbox. Tickets are available in Kent Hall Annex with activity or UT membership cards for February 25 26 27 performances.

1400 Expected For Concert in Cleveland Auditorium

About 60 tickets have been distributed for Friday night's performance by the Cleveland Little Symphony in the auditorium. An activities card is needed for a reserved seat. Tickets available daily in the library from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The program of Mozart Bach and Haydn lasts about an hour and starts at 8 15 p.m.

Council asked to hold pace on Crain Summit Water parking ordinance

City council was asked to pause an ordinance restricting on street parking at Crain Avenue Water and Summit streets until a new parking lot is finished. Emil Berg business manager said Summit would affect the university only slightly about 40 or 50 cars once the lot is complete.

ISA-BS Pop Vote Merges for Most Popular Elections

Members of the Independent Students association voted a merger with the Blue Star party during their weekly meeting on Monday night in 219K. The merger will exist only for the upcoming Most Popular Man and Woman elections. Members praised the move as politically sound and constitutional. A constitutional provision on the treasurer’s additional duties was removed.

Stump Ends Radio Tift With Directive

Faculty forces end of the two year split in the Radio Workshop club as Prof. E Turner Stump announces a new constitution drafted by Prof Walton D Clarke and club members. Clarke presented it Tuesday night and it was rejected in favor of the amended original. A majority later signed the new charter, prompted despite lack of Student Council approval. Curt Sarff says Stump acted within his rights but hastily.

Fire department to raise funds for stadium drive

Kent Fire Department schedules a March 7 one day paper collection to support the stadium fund drive. Fire Chief R. M. Clark says proceeds mark the first such university project contribution by the department. Fighters will canvass door to door using borrowed or owned trucks while continuing fire duties. The effort aims to fund the stadium and reduce local fire hazards.

Nancy Greer Hurt In Auto Mishap

University freshman Nancy Greer suffered a broken collar bone when the car her mother drove skidded on ice and was hit from behind. She will stay in Robinson Memorial hospital for days and withdraw from school for the quarter. Nancy is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Redmond Greer of 1545 West Main Kent. Mrs Greer was discharged after treatment for cuts.

Directory Sale Raises 153.31 for Stadium Fund

The Blue Key student directories raised 153.31 for the Stadium Fund drive. 1,010 directories were produced with 53 sold yesterday leaving seven unsold at 75 cents each. Proceeds plus ads total 787.45. costs 635.64. accounts receivable 1.50. Directory edited by Bob Casey.

Marines Invited To AMVETS Meet In Ravenna

Ex marines in the Ravenna area are invited to a 8 p.m. Friday meeting at the AMVET clubhouse. Master Sergeant Raymond E Brown and Technical Sergeant Darrell B Albers from the Akron recruiting office will discuss the Civilian Volunteer Reserve. A luncheon will be served.
