K Vets announce a broader survey of veteran problems to improve service to university veterans. New secretary Charles Noble outlined plans, with officers Bob Duncan as president Bob White as vice president and Bill McDermott as treasurer. Bill Lyle will survey subsistence allowance to gauge potential influence on current status.
Betty Sarff of Stow was chosen as Terese Green queen among five contestants and will be presented at the university theater on February 22. Miss Sarff is a sophomore in the BA program and a member of Pi Kappa Sigma sorority. Pictures of the contestants are on display at Terese Green's.
Tickets for the annual Chestnut Burr dance go on sale until Friday night at the ticket booth near the atrium and at the Burr office. Anne Demiter, dance committee chairman, announced today. Tickets also will be available at the dance. The Burr queen, chosen by Bob Hope, will be revealed during intermission by Al Geitgey.
Mrs Marcye Huston Armington, a junior from Cuyahoga Falls, crowned first Mrs Kent State at the Top Hop in Wills gym Friday night for about 1 300 students. Bill Lyon, university social chairman, presented the new queen with coeds from each sorority and dormitory on campus.
The student council elevated Bill Lyon to vice president and elections committee chair, with Donna Burkhardt resigning for academic reasons. Phyllis Robbins became head of the assembly committee. The Miss Kent state contest tally showed Mareye Huson Armington winning over Evie Long by nine votes, 565 to 556, with 1 180 total votes cast and four invalid or unreadable ballots.
Andrew W. Paton announces a spring quarter flight course for students with private pilot certificates. The program includes navigation lectures and 26 hours of cross country flight in Stinson 150s, 400 miles total, dead reckoning navigation only. Enrollment is limited to 20 students at room 109 Merrill Hall, with a $215 initial fee covered by the GI bill for veterans.

Assistant Treasurer O B Law requests all students with refund cards for lab fees to call at the treasurer's office today or Wednesday to obtain their refunds.
Paintings by district artists are on display in the university art gallery located in the corridor linking Kent and Merrill halls. The exhibit features both oil and water color landscapes.
Bob Hoyt editor of the Stater announced the full staff appears in the current masthead. He said changes must be made at the Wednesday meeting at 4 p.m. in room 107 Merrill hall as the staff will be officially closed then. Future additions require written applications.
The Summit chapter of the Kent State University Alumni Association hosts a Valentine dance at Hotel Portage Akron on Friday night. Advance student tickets are 2 dollars per couple, alumni pay 3 dollars, at the door 3.50 for all. Patsy Pace’s orchestra performs from 9 to 12. Students buy from Miss Jean Getz in the School of Journalism office and show activity tickets for the reduced rate. Dress is semi formal and women may obtain early permits from the dean of women before 4 p.m. Friday.
