Post Messersmith Get Trophies at Kent Stater Banquet

Robert E. Hoyt and Frank Carroll named editors of the Kent Stater and Chestnut Burr at the Chi Pi publications banquet held at the Mayflower hotel in Akron. Al Post and Joe Messer smith received top trophies. numerous gold and silver keys awarded to staff and contributors.

Ducats Sales Push Hop Dance To 4 P.M. Friday

Bill Lyon announces ducat sales continue to 4 p.m. Friday with alumni able to buy. tickets may also be bought at the door tomorrow night. Miss Kent State and nine attendants will crown the queen between 10 30 and 11. Dancers are asked to sit in the Balcony or Atrium to ease crowding while Bob Chester and his band perform 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Chi Pi Fraternity Donates to Zenger Memorial Fund

Chi Pi fraternity, a journalism honor society, approved a $10 donation to the Zenger memorial fund becoming the first fraternity to contribute. The memorial for John Peter Zenger will be built on Eastchester Green near St. Paul’s Church in Eastchester New York and will house a lecture hall and church offices. Other donors include the St. Peters burg Independent the New England Newspaper Supply Co. the Mexico Ledger and Willmar Tribune and Hammond Machinery.

Dr DeWeese Receives Honor for HPE Leadership

Dr A O DeWeese director of student health service and head of health and physical education will receive an honorary award at the Ohio Health and Physical Education association meeting in Cleveland on Friday February 21. The honor cites 28 years of leadership and Ohio and national and international recognition through his writings and service as Ohio Committee of Health Education chair for 10 years and as president of the Ohio Student Health association.

Armington Miss Kent State Race Approved by Student Council

Student council backed Registrar Stopher's plan to let Mrs. Marcye Huston Armington run in the Miss Kent State election. Balloting runs 9 to 4 in the atrium with Miss Evie Long in the other half of the contest for Friday's Top Hop. The move addresses Armington's junior standing short of the requirement. Council also approved a Burr and Stater staff banquet tickets gesture with a disclaimer of no endorsement. Bob Duncan questioned student payment for the journalism banquet.

Disc Concert Program Set for Merrill Hall Event

The school of music presents a 7 p.m. concert in room 312 Merrill Hall. NBC Symphony Orchestra under Toscanini performs Symphony No. 3 Eroica. Wagner selections from Frauenlieb und Leben with soprano Helen Traubel. Debussy Trio for Flute Harp and Viola featured.

Boosters Urged to Show Cards for B C Section

Booster club members must present membership cards before halftime of the jay-vee game tonight to gain admittance to the B C section. Advanced sales show a near capacity crowd. If the section is not filled by the indicated time it will be opened to all spectators. Membership cards must be produced for entry.
