Nine Coeds Approved For Miss Kent State
Nine university coeds were approved by the special faculty student committee Friday to run for Miss Kent State. They are Ann Demiter Eleanor Meek Jean Goncher Virginia Block Doris Heupel Matilda Davis Bonnie Jean Avant Phyllis Robbins and Mabel Davey. Petitions with 500 signatures are due January 7. Voting occurs January 15 with the winner presented at the Top Hop on January 16.

Phi Beta Phi Christmas Party For Kent Children
Phi Beta Phi fraternity hosts its second annual Christmas party for underprivileged children from Kent and nearby areas. The event takes place Thursday in room 119K at 4 p.m. About 35 children will attend and gifts will be distributed by Santa Claus, represented by Bill Reichard.

Record crowds praise Handel's Messiah at KSU
About 3,700 people attended the Messiah at Kansas State University in a gym concert hailed as the largest chorus in school history. Director Caro Carapetyan molded 250 voices into a precise chorus with standout soprano Lillian Wilkinson and tenor Myron Taylor. The orchestra under Kenneth Byler delivered a rich, full sound despite piano organ limits, and the Hallelujah chorus finale drew the loudest reaction.
