Kent State Plans Credit for Students Entering Military Service

Faculty draft two resolutions to grant full credit for courses with satisfactory grades to students who enter U S armed forces or are called to national service. Returnees may receive applicable credit in their senior year after petition and evaluation by the college dean and committee.

Delegates to Meet at Wesley Conference in Ohio

One hundred twenty five delegates from 13 Ohio colleges attend the annual Methodist Student conference hosted by the University Wesley Foundation. Roy Deming announces plans including runs, skits, folk dancing, and a Sunday worship service led by Dr. H. D. Bollinger with music by the Wesley Foundation choir.

NEOTA Draws Eight of Faculty for Youngstown Meeting

Dr. K. C. Leebrick president of the university and seven faculty members attend the spring meeting of the Northeastern Ohio Teachers association in Youngstown. Attendees include Dr. John L. The YWCA student industrial section schedules its spring conference at Baldwin Wallace College on April 19 and 20. Students To See Movies Of Australian Defenses

Uncensored films of Australia’s war defenses will be shown to university students and Kent townspeople on Tuesday April 21 at 8 15 p m in the auditorium. Six reels shot by Mrs Alpha Baker and her husband Walter Baker include Pratt and Whitney components in Melbourne and Canberra, Aussie fighters, and scenes of western Australia harbors Port Darwin and women in uniform. Admission is free to students with fee cards or activity tickets.

Army to Start Air Force Reserve Cadet Program

The Army will begin a program to recruit aviation cadets for the Air Force Reserve as part of the Army Enlisted Reserve Corps. Adrian Van Wyen, coordinator of Civilian Pilot Training, announced the plan yesterday. The program offers college men a deferred service enlistment and a path to finish college before active duty.

Poet Louis Untermeyer Laughs Through How to Hate Poetry

Louis Untermeyer headlined a humorous lecture last night to 350 attendees in the University auditorium. He argued that every man is a poet and explained why many hate poetry, delivering wit with sincerity. A vocal recital by Mrs. William Sheperd and Alyce Carr preceded the talk.

Three Students Share Lead In M U Writing Cup

Ayres Chosen as Representative to Student Council

Charles Ayres, a junior in the college of liberal arts, was chosen by the central committee of hanories and publications yesterday as a representative to the Student Council. The 12 committee members also selected Jane McDowell for the student faculty social committee and Dick Kerckhoff for the student faculty relations committee. Ray Gallager presided over the meeting as election committee chairman.

University Women Debate Defensive Efforts at Ohio State Convention

Betty Chapman reports the University defense effort lagging at a Women's League meeting following observations from the regional convention of the association of women students at Ohio State University. A plan to integrate women's activities for defense and daily needs will be studied by a committee including Chapman Morris and Wedding. Nominees for next year's Women's League offices were announced with multiple candidates for president and other posts.
