Eleven University students have filled donor forms responding to an American Red Cross appeal. Dr. Elizabeth Leggett announced the unit will visit Kent on Friday April 30 from 11 30 a m to 5 p m at the Methodist church.
Carol Sayers president. New pledges to be notified April 21 with initiation April 22 and banquet May 8. Total membership reaches 25. all members must maintain a 2.5 GPA. Campus Night plans discussed. arrangements committee named Cornelia Kuchenbacher Arlene Chamberlain Hope Byrne Wanda Baynes. May Queen candidates must be juniors or seniors on the eligible list.
Kent State University observes Arbor Day with a 3:15 pm ceremony on the east campus steps. Dean Manchester recalls 17 listed war dead as the bronze plaque will be unveiled under the tree. The Army Air Corps Band and speakers including H. S. Wagner and Dr. Leebrick participated.
Naval Reserve V-1 men in their late sophomore year and Marine corps reserve freshmen and sophomores must take a qualifying test on Tuesday April 20 in 317 McGilvrey Hall from 8 to 10 a.m. and 12 to 2 p.m. Natives will be tested on math, physics and English as advised by Adrian Van Wyen. Navy enlistees failing may retake for Navy V-5 or enter boat training. the exam runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with two hours off 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. under Dr. Raymond Clark who oversees administration.
Intermittent snow flurries and falling temperatures delay the aircrew parade scheduled for today at Kent State. Bandmaster Roy D. Metcalf notes cold weather spoils the sound, delaying festivities to this evening due to safety and performance concerns.

The Office of War Activities eight hostess receptionists will run a get acquainted mixer at the Air Crew Hop tomorrow at 7 30 p m in Wills gymnasium. Dates with University men approved by the committee. Dress includes street dress heels and hose for women. Patriotic decorations circle dances Paul Jones by Herb Myers and Norb Zink tag dances and community singing led by Bruce Handley. Hostesses named: Audrey Wells Linnea Saukkonen Marilou Sowash Marty Lauderbough Jane Higgins Gloria Cianciola Betty Wile Jane McDowell.
Mary Kathryn Boswell, assistant professor of art, receives honorable mention for her picture Two Hills at the 13th Ozark Artists exhibition held at the Springfield Art Museum in Missouri.
Margaret Lewis and Betsy Case were elected co chairs of the American Women's Volunteer Service at a Wednesday meeting. June Wagner Helen Morgan Meg Cook and others were named officers and the university council will provide permanent headquarters. Immediate duties include blood donor drive knitted items for organs and supporting recreation and mailing efforts.
