June Graduates Placed Across Fellowships and Jobs

Twelve June graduates have received positions fellowships or graduate assistantships for the coming year reports Dr. Lester Munzenmayer director of the placement office. Several hold teaching posts in Ohio schools and nearby districts while others take university fellowships or personnel assistantships.

Nine KSU Students Enroll in Army Air Forces Pre‑Flight

Nine former Kent State University students study at Maxwell Field Alabama enrolled in the Army Air Forces pre flight school for pilots. Parrish Announces Part Time Jobs for Women Students

Jeanne Parrish assistant dean of women says part time jobs are available for several women students. All women employed outside class work should come to the office to fill out a statement, Miss Parrish requests.

Easter Assembly at University April 21 Speaker Dr King

Edinburg Scotland’s Dr Joseph King will speak at the university Easter assembly on Wednesday April 21 at 9 am 10 EWT in the auditorium. Rev Edward Willcox of Kent will introduce him after Easter selections by the university a cappella choir directed by Bruce Handley. Army air force trainees are to attend per Capt William J Ackermann arrangements.

KSRW Airs Comedy At New Program Time

The first radio workshop at the new 2 15 p m slot aired yesterday over WADC Akron featuring a comedy script A College Primer by Anne Daly. The piece uses each alphabet letter to depict college culture with letters D for date B for bolt and C for coke through individual roles and chorus.

University Time Policy Emphasizes State Time

Dr K C Leebrick, president, warned the University is a state institution and must use state time. He announced that from now on all hour designations in the Stater will reflect state time.

Three Coeds Conduct Radio Program Survey

A survey of 1,000 Kent state and Roosevelt high school students conducted by three University freshmen reveals comedy and popular music as youths' favorite radio programs. The study directed by Dr. William B. Shepherd involved Betty Rinkes Barbara Greene and Ann McLeod.

Kent State Honored in Ohio Teaching Certificates Ranking

Kent State University ranked second in Ohio for graduates receiving high school teaching certificates in 1942, with 174 teachers. Ohio State topped the list. Kent also placed third in elementary teacher certifications and third in total Ohio certificates awarded.

Alphie the Alpha Omega Mascot Dead After Hit-Skip

Alphie a three month old black and white AO mascot half Spitz and half unknown was killed by a hit skip driver in front of the Alpha Omega sorority house on Saturday. Daughter of Trixie Gamma Sigma Phi mascot she had become a campus sensation with tricks including retrieving shoes. Burial was held in the sorority house backyard with Theta Miller officiating. Survived by her mother and eight siblings, funeral attendance not listed.

Students Agree On Revisions For Proposed Student Constitution

The joint constitution committee will recommend the changes to the faculty for approval before presenting to the board of trustees. The process aims to have the constitution possibly in effect by May 1 after a 97 percent student vote last December and subsequent faculty revisions.

Air crew Hop Dance Planned by OWA Tonight

The Office of War Activities names the first dance The Air crew Hop and schedules it for Saturday night from 7 30 to 10 30 p m 8 30 to 11 30 EWT in formal attire. University women must be in by midnight with chaperones from faculty and aircrew course instructors.

Gentlemen's Square: campus retreat becomes aircrew gathering

Former student retreat at Engleman dormitory renamed Gentlemen's Square by hundreds of aircrew cadets. The area once used for night astronomy work becomes a social space with dances and gatherings. Quarantine lifted for cadets to mingle with students for weekend events.

Air Force Cadets Parade to Launch Kent Bond Drive

Five hundred air force students will march in Kent at 7 p.m. to start the second war bond drive. A 33 piece marching band led by Roy D. Metcalf will lead the cadets, assembled last week by the bandmaster.
