The Chestnut Burr editorial staff completes work on the 1948 yearbook with 5200 copies due before spring quarter. A Salon section features campus photographs. 50 pages cover highlights of the year. Graduate school inclusion, 250 new photos, and student directories with page numbers aid quick reference.
The KSU concert band will reorganize next week as a marching unit. New and former members, including drum majors and majorettes, should contact Prof. Roy D. Metcalf on Monday between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the music office. The band will have women and men’s sections and practice starts this quarter, with a May 8 K Day intra-squad game performance. limited practice time noted.
Space the band faces formation limits but will stage a special drum major display. A concert is scheduled Thursday at Hower Trade School in Akron ahead of upcoming reorganization.
Registrar Emmet C. Stopher says expected enrollment for KSU summer sessions should match last year’s total of 3,067 students. The preview underscores steady demand and campus scheduling implications for the season.

The university a cappella choir performs a special concert at Severance Hall in Cleveland on Friday April 23 at 8 30 p m. after four months of tours and church appearances in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Kent State Alumni in Cuyahoga county aid ticket sales for 2 500 seats with tickets via the Cleveland Alumni club the KSU music school and Severance hall. A broadcast concert on WTAM Cleveland will air Saturday April 17 from 4 to 4 30 p m.
Governor Thomas J. Herbert will attend the 1948 Northeastern Ohio Scholastic Press clinic this Saturday April 24. The Herbert trophy rewards the high school with the best mass interview story. Four memorial stadium seats have been purchased by the Governor. A contribution check will be given to Tom Davey during the Wicnie noon luncheon in Wills gym. Over 600 high school journalism students are expected for the all day event run by the school of ee ism. Awards cover printed newspaper sport page and editorial page with divisions for editorial writing interviews sports feature column photography and newswriting. W. Dan Cana Daily Stater edition editor leads the program.
Two Houston businessmen each sent 50 to the Memorial Stadium fund after contact by Cy Port of Pyramid Rubber. The committee said total gifts reach 35,613.29, with university groups contributing 14,485.29 and Kent firms 8,250, among others as it focuses on organizational support in the area.
