A university plans a weekend event featuring an all-university free dance and a ceremonial tree presentation to the campus. Students and staff will participate in the activities highlighting university heritage and community.
Maintenance crews plant a tree on the front campus as a formal dedication is planned for the dance intermission. Roy Apple will dedicate the tree, with Dean Raymond E. Manchester accepting for the university. A choral contest among fraternities sororities dormitories and independents will highlight the 9 p.m. to midnight event.
Delta Kappa Gamma sponsors a public forum at Kent State University on April 16 at 8 p.m. chaired by KSU President George A. Bowman. He warns of a serious teacher shortage and says the event aims to mobilize citizens to provide leadership and responsibility for improving education.
The Saturday program at 10 45 a m presents a poetry recitation theme spring with narrator Don Shanower reading works by Henry Van Dyke Alfred Tennyson and others Delores Clark reads poems by Alice Freeman Parker Jim Bullock leads production on the show
Freshman and sophomore classes will start collecting dues early next week. Dues cards admit members to the popularity ball set for Saturday April 19. Juniors and seniors use winter quarter lists for admission. Seniors are guests while juniors vote against extra dues due to a prior bank balance.
Student Council Monday rejected budget allocations again after an ISA protest and will send a representative to explain figures. A joint council meeting may be requested if the second rejection occurs while petitions for Apr. 17 elections were tossed for late filing.
Kent State University veterans released by the Office of Veterans' Co-ordinator Dewey Barich show 38 veterans earned an A average, 759 earned B to B plus, and 1,456 ranged from C to C plus. A total 3,049 veterans enrolled had 112 failing to achieve passing grades, with 684 in the marginal category.
The university schedules a faculty meeting Monday April 14 in the auditorium at 4 35 p m. The dismissal of the day’s 4 p m classes occurs at 4 30 p m. The 5 p m classes will not convene until 5 15 p m.
Enrollment at Kansas State University stands at 4726 combining 3573 male students and 1153 female students. The gender gap remains pronounced with males outnumbering females by 2420.

The university choir will perform twice on Sunday April 13 in Canton at 4 p.m. and at Wooster College chapel at 8 p.m. The KSUC sponsored event marks their initial Canton appearance at First Presbyterian Church.
Chi Pi elected Frank Carroll Marvin Eubanks and Bob Wentz to its steering committee at the Wednesday nate meeting. Bob Blumer was appointed chairman of the speaker committee.
