WKSU operations are reported successful with recorded music and speech heard in dormitories and classrooms. Clarke noted the test ran from 4 to 5 pm yesterday and that full coverage will expand after further tests under FCC rules.
A correction clarifies that Murray Campbell should have been listed as the holdover ISA member of the student council, not Chuck Fletcher, in last Friday's Stater.
Dr Kelley Hale of Wilmington Ohio surgeon and naturalist will address university zoology students today at 4 p.m. on the life and activities of the hornet He is vice president of the Medical Sciences of the Ohio Academy of Sciences and holds a large fossil collection from southwestern Ohio.
Senior dues and announcements can be paid or ordered on April 6 7 8 at a Kent hall table. June graduates must settle dues and place orders by Friday as stated by Pete Ulrich, the committee chairman.
Hiram College choir directed by Francis F. Proctor performs at 8 15 in the college auditorium. Program includes Mo tet Jesus Priceless Treasure and Randall Thompson pieces as well as Negro spirituals and 16th century madrigals. Proctor background and 10 year tenure noted.
Blue Key will outline plans for Penny Carnival and Campus Day at a 7 PM meeting in 307K, led by President Donald Warman. Representatives from participating groups are reminded of a 4 PM session in 302K today.
Arthur Thomas Kerrick, noted artist, opened a university gallery exhibit yesterday and it runs through April 15. A Minnesota native with numerous awards, his works grace public buildings across Minnesota Wisconsin North and South Dakota and Washington DC.
Several counsellor positions are open for this summer at the Eastern Star camp near Akron with additional summer playground work in Cleveland. Akron representatives will interview students at the university today with appointments at the HPE office from 2 to 4 30 p m and 1 to 2 30 p m tomorrow. Students seeking Cleveland work should submit their names to the HPE office at once. The Cleveland director will mail application and examination blanks to interested applicants.
Thirteen high school bands were chosen to participate in state contests on May 14. Ravenna Township won the top Class D award, while Conneaut Shaw and Cuyahoga Falls bands are eligible for Class A at Ohio Wesleyan. Participating schools include Springfield, Wooster, Garfield Heights, North Canton, Louisville, Kent State, Leavittsburg, Newbury, and Lakewood.
Petitions for election to student council seats and offices must be filed by Monday April 11, according to election committee chairman Irv Wheatley.
Two new radio workshop plays, The Wanhope Building and Sword of Monsieur Le Blanc, begin casting this afternoon. Auditions for The Wanhope Building, a social drama, will run today and Wednesday with parts available.
Students with 339 numbered tickets for the Jan Peerce program must exchange by Wednesday April 6. Peerce appears April 11 under the university entertainment committee with free admission. Additional tickets for February 24 holders available after Wednesday, with distribution times and locations listed. The program features original student music, a modern dance group, and sets designed by university staff. Casting for the radio workshop’s Saturday show will be held today, and WAKR Akron will air the program on April 9.
