Cactus Study Club Meets Wednesday

Local man undergoes major surgery in Temple Texas

H D Henderson formerly of Junction now in Santa Anna underwent major surgery at Scott and White Hospital Temple Texas on Tuesday March 16. His condition is critical. One May Nell is the daughter born to Mr and Mrs Carl M Hodges March 14 in a Fredericksburg hospital. The infant weighed 6 pounds 12 ounces at birth.

West Texas Utilities Builds Toward Wider Electric Service

West Texas Utilities traces its 1915 high voltage line as the start of broad growth in the region. In 1947 the company added 121 miles of transmission, served 6 033 more customers including 514 rural connections, and supplied 59 879 000 more kilowatt hours than 1946. Wages paid totaled 2 800 000 and 1 873 000 went to governments as taxes. Over the next four years the utility plans to invest 18 million dollars to expand plants and lines to deliver cheaper power to homes farms and businesses.
