The Junction Independent School District schedules its first annual trustee election for April 3 after annexation of rural areas. Two women and 15 men filed as candidates, seven elected by majority to fill terms of one to three years. Board secretary L L Urban notes the district now covers most of the county.

Free Parking Space Offered North of Post Office

Band Students Attend Clinic in Ozona
Nine Junction Public Schools band students attended the second annual band clinic in Ozona. Frank Malone of SMU led instruction for 151 students. Accompanying the group were Miss Gwen LaRue and Mrs. Roy Spiller along with listed students. The event followed a March barbecue fundraiser and Leap Year dance by the band. They prepare for the Battle of Flowers marching contest in San Antonio April 21-22.

Injured oil field worker Beal Freeman in Rankin area
Mrs. Ed Joy returned Monday from San Angelo where she had been at the bedside of her brother Beal Freeman. He was injured Friday in the oil fields near Rankin when his hand was caught in machinery belt. His left hand and arm were damaged. the middle finger and part of the forefinger were removed. Doctors believe the remaining hand may recover.
