Smith-Orson nuptials at First Methodist Church La Mesa

Mr and Mrs James E Smith wed at the First Methodist Church in La Mesa on February 27 with Beulah Orson as bride. The ceremony featured Rev Matthews officiating and a reception at the bride’s parents home with white and yellow sweet peas, a three tiered cake, and family attendants. The bride, a Sul Ross State College graduate, teaches in Junction. the groom ranches after a Junction High School background.

Mr and Mrs Lorenzo M Mogford married February 22 in Mason in a double ring Methodist Church wedding. Rev L K Brown officiated amid white gladioli and ferns. The bride Dorothy Eckert wore aqua blue with black net and pink carnation corsage. Attendants included Gratton Beiens and Jean W Mogford. The bride, a Mason High School graduate, taught in local schools. The groom, a Junction High School graduate with A and M animal husbandry degree, is a rancher and war veteran major.

Southwest farm markets show mixed week with varying prices

Production and Marketing Administration reports mixed results across southwest markets. Hogs and eggs softened while poultry stayed firm, cotton prices rose, and grain modules edged up to six cents. Regional receipts ranged with notable gains in hay stability and sparse orders in rice and wool.
