Four local FRA chapter members placed in judging at the San Angelo Livestock Show last week. Charles Simon took fifth in crossbred mutton lamb, Dale Warren 13th, among 163 entries. Philip Jacoby's Southdown Jam grand champion of the Hill Country show placed fifth. Billy Damon Evans exhibited three bucks earning fifth in Suffolk, sixth in Rambouillet Buck Lamb, and seventh in two-toothed lamb.

Fire ruins home of Sanders family Tuesday evening
The small home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sanders was razed by fire early Tuesday evening. Mrs. Sanders was visiting a neighbor after cooking supper when the blaze started. T. M. Simmons raised the alarm at about 7 10, but the building had almost burned before it was noticed. Clothing and household effects were burned as well.

Earl Gilliam Funeral Held Saturday
Earl Gilliam 64 died March 4 of a heart attack and was buried Saturday in Big Spring. A native Texan born April 5, 1883 in Cooke County he lived in Big Spring since 1926. Survivors include his widow three daughters two sisters and four brothers with Nolan and Roy Gilliam among the relatives attending services.

Junction Independent School District Bond Indebtedness Vote
Voters in the Junction Independent School District approved assuming bonded indebtedness in annexed districts and tax equalization by a 123 to 2 poll. Local Red Cross Chapter Reports Annual Expenditures and Cases
Local Red Cross chapter chair Reuben S Loeffler outlined a past fiscal year with expenditures totaling 359.38 and 119 cases handled with no direct financial aid. Blowout Cited in Automobile Accident Near Town
Mrs. Lafay Stapp and her husband Mr. Stapp were en route to Jamie Ragland funeral services when the Stapp car overturned after a tire blowout on Highway 290 east of town. Mrs. Stapp suffered a gash above the left eye and a laceration to the head requiring stitches. Mr. Stapp was behind the wheel.

Child Drowns in North Llano River
Funeral services were held in Waco for Jack Ray six who drowned Saturday afternoon on Marvin Skaggs ranch after falling into about two and a half feet of water while playing near his father working on a truck. The body was taken to Hodges Funeral Home Sunday. The Ray family of four children had been living in a trailer on the ranch three weeks. father is employed by Waco Sand and Gravel Co.

Illness Stresses San Saba Family Hospital Crowding
Bill Locklear six year old son of a high school principal and Mrs H D Locklear is seriously ill in San Saba.
