This week’s crossword puzzle credits Walter R Barnes as the compiler. The grid features eight six letter words at the start, then decreasing lengths with an equal count of repeated letters, a challenging but approachable set of clues across horizontal and vertical entries.
Mrs Slater Fleming hosted Laf A Lot Club members at her home with bridge as the main diversion. Winners included Mrs Lee Corkill high score and Miss Tyler Wilkinson a green toilet water tile. Booby prize went to Miss Marjorie Ragland. Green decor carried through with shamrock stands nut baskets and a rubber doll with a green necktie as favors. A chicken salad course and tea were served.
Miss Fay Taylor entertained the Lat-A-Lot Club Saturday at Mrs Turk Kendricks home. Miss Marguerite Wright secured the high club score and Mrs. C. T. Holekamp the high guest score, with both awarded a pretty prize.
Miss Mattie Wright presented Tyler Wilkinson with many pretty gifts from Lat-A-Lot Club members. The club regrets losing Tyler and wishes her friends and happiness in her new home.
Last week Miss Tyne Wilkison hosted a bridge party at her home for the Laf-A ot Club. Miss Fae Taylor received a green bud vase as a prize while Miss Lois Hanklis earned a miniature french harp for consolation. A pineapple salad course was served. Reads ads and answers last week’s puzzle.
