He stole a sorrel horse from D N Wharton and sold it in Comfort to Paul Ingenhuett for 40 dollars. He bought a cow with the proceeds then traded gear for a mule and rode away when Sheriff Jack Moore arrested him.

County Board of Trustees meets to set school elections
The County Board of Trustees met in special session at the courthouse to address school matters. Members present were John R. Martin, Chris Schraub, Lee Rothmann, and A. L. Mudge, with one vacancy from Chas. Montgomery's death. appointments were made to fill vacancies in Junction and Roosevelt districts. Lenten Services Set at Episcopal Church Next Sunday
Lenten services will be held in the Episcopal church next Sunday at 11 a.m. The Rev. F. W. Jones of Kerrville, rector, will preach on the subject Is the Church Human or Divine. Rev. and Mrs. J. W. Tracy of Miles were guests at the home of Postmaster and Mrs. Earl Tracy last week.

Commissioners Court Regular Session Details on Tax and Bids
The court met Monday to approve banking bids for county and school funds. State Bank offered 3.1 percent on daily balances and 0.5 percent on time deposits, while Commercial Trust Co. bid 2.14 percent on daily balances and 0.5 percent on time deposits. Election results showed a 25 to 29 vote to retain the 50 cent school tax. New election officers for several precincts were listed.

Ferguson Signs Anti-Glare Headlight Law
Governor Miriam A. Ferguson signed House Bill No. 23 creating an anti glare headlight rule effective September 1. The act sets headlight testing methods to prevent blinding oncoming drivers. Read Granberry, the speaker’s parliamentarian, wrote the measure.

Burglary at Sonora Drug Store Nets Jewelry and Pens
The Sonora Drug Store was robbed between midnight Saturday and 7 a.m. Sunday, with about $1000 in valuables stolen including jewelry, cigars, candy, and expensive fountain pens. Sheriff Hutcherson and Deputy Cook traced a Ford and tracked a suspect, R. B. Webb, who claimed the goods and was bound over on $2500 bond. An accomplice is believed at large. Roosevelt Merchant Weds In Sonora
News arrived Monday that Ren Simon owner of the Roosevelt general merchandise store and Miss Rachel Simon of Roosevelt were married in Sonora Sunday and left for Del Rio on a brief honeymoon. The bride is a daughter of Christian Simon of Bandera County and was raised in this county where she has many friends and relatives. Simon has owned the Roosevelt store since shortly after returning from service in the War and runs a well regarded country mercantile business with strong patronage.

Rock Springs Defeats Roosevelt in Close Contests
In a Saturday matinee on the local court Rock Springs boys beat Roosevelt visitors 24 to 13. Edwards County Leader notes the earlier Roosevelt win when Rock Springs traveled there weeks ago. Meanwhile several Rockwell, Sulphur Springs, Bisbee and Waco residents attend a bed-side vigil for their ill father R. J. Pickett, with other local moves reported for Mrs. P. Joseph and Mrs. M. Cemetery Aid Play a Notable Community Event
The Junction Cemetery Aid Society under Mrs. W. W. Allen staged a lively concert at Hawkins-Riley Hall last Thursday. Crowds from London, Roosevelt, Telegraph, Segovia and nearby areas attended, with two dozen extra seats filled. The show featured over fifty participants and raised more than one hundred dollars for cemetery work, praising all performers and organizers.
