After a Friday night fight two Grandfalls youths were jailed Saturday for drunkenness and disturbing the peace. They continued a jailhouse party as deputies observed a drink session and a back and forth push the sheriff attempted to stop. The jail remained full over the weekend.
WMU of the Baptist Church reorganizes into circles but will meet as a single group next week for an all day WMU clinic at the church starting 10 a m. A covered dish luncheon is planned at noon with state workers Mrs Carpenter and Mrs Davis serving as main speakers.
Fern Brock was hurt when a classmate struck her on the head during a bottle tossing activity. She received first aid at a local hospital. Several women attended a Hobbs Rebekahs meeting Tuesday evening. Dean Latch sprained her ankle stepping from a doorway and also got first aid at the hospital.

The Just A Mere Contract Bridge Club met Monday night at Mrs. R L Meyers home with Mrs Jimmie Gammill as hostess. Mrs Bill Hollis won first prize and Mrs K B Wilker won second. Mrs Bill Fink captured the cut prize. Refreshments were served to several members and guest Miss Stella Sullivan. The club plans to meet again next Monday night at Mrs Meyers home.
Sub Debs met in Nada Ruth Buffingtons home and voted in Norma Thompson Marion Carew and Lois Mosley. After a short business session the group enjoyed a social with refreshments. Attendees included Lenora House Cora Lee Jones Mary Lou Betty Wanda Booth and hostess Nada Ruth Buffington. Next meeting will be at Wanda Booths home.
Mrs. T Ford has been seriously ill this week with a report indicating she was feeling better on Wednesday. No further medical details are provided.
Mrs W P Hassell cut her finger severely this week while opening a can and received emergency treatment at the hospital. Raymond Stone and family with Mr and Mrs Eddie Hall returned Sunday from a weekend trip to Corpus Christi and reported a good time.
A group of Baptist WMU members attended a workers conference in Lovington on Tuesday. Attendees included Mesdames Roy Allison, H. Crowley, J. E. Mounts, S. E. Bradford, L. D. Hair, J. M. Whitworth, Mrs. Brown and Rev. J. W. Hollis, the pastor.
Mr and Mrs Robert Madera will entertain the Los Amigos Bridge Club at their ranch home Wednesday night After a game of bridge the club plans a weiner roast for the gathering and social time with members and guests.
