Missouri roads plan advances at January Good Roads convention
The Missouri legislature was urged to appropriate 500000 dollars to aid county permanent road construction. At Jefferson City January 15 and 16 a large Good Roads Convention with about 300 delegates from most counties adopted resolutions for a state road fund, county taxation for road costs, district formation, a road engineering department, a university road materials lab, an enabling legislative committee, and further bills to enact these measures. The legislative committee drafted bills and will push them in both houses, with a bright outlook for passage. Also noted is the death of George H. Randol, age 19, near Cape Girardeau after a prolonged illness and lingering health decline.
