Post Office backs roads to speed mail delivery
Washington reports the post office endorses the push for better highways. While not legally bound to act, the department cooperates with agriculture and rural free delivery efforts to improve routes used for mail. Officials warn that neglected roads threaten mail service and may lead to suspension in affected areas.
Road Improvement Efforts Under Rural Free Delivery Policy
The department continues to press for better roads, cooperating with federal state and local officers and road associations. Over 13 years of the rural free delivery system more money has been spent on road improvement than at any prior time in the nation’s history.
