A three story American Dairy Lunch building opposite the courthouse burned in Pittsburg. Five people were badly hurt including Frank Malmare with severe burns and a skull fracture. Trains Wreckers Severely Wound Passengers in Royal Blue Flyer Crash
Two lives were lost and forty were injured when train No. 5 the Royal Blue Flyer on the Baltimore and Ohio derailed two miles east of Chewton near Pittsburg after a displaced rail. Among the injured is J H Lannon of Indianapolis. The wreck, heavily loaded with money and mail, left two cars on the track with guards and posses patrolling the scene. A long list of injured and dead includes C A Dill and George Wheatcraft. The motive appears to be a deliberate attempt to annihilate everyone aboard.
