A barn and its contents burned to ashes at the Shaw nee Glen farm near town owned by Mrs. John F. Clements. The blaze occurred around midnight Friday. Samuel Swartz, neighbor and user of the barn for machinery storage, was the heaviest loser.

Burns Fatal to Girl in Gas Explosion
Miss Alice Shank aged 18 died from burns suffered in a gas explosion at the Forsha home on Fifth street two weeks earlier. Daughter of William M. Shank of White township, she went to light a stove when a gas leak caused the blast. Survived by parents and several brothers and sisters, funeral services set for this afternoon at 1 o'clock with burial in Oakland Cemetery.

In District No 2 United Mine Workers voted overwhelmingly to accept the 1912 wage scale for two more years averting a strike. All mining towns in the county approved except Iselia. Inelin voted 134 to 120 against acceptance. Burgess J I Shaffer praised for enforcing speed laws as fines were paid by C H Moore and Meredith Brady for speeding. At a Saturday meeting of the Indiana County Agricultural Society managers, a resolution approved significant improvements for the fairgrounds. A new 456 by 100 foot exhibition shed will front east near the current site, the oil horticultural hall will be remodeled and relocated for eastern frontage, the dancing hall in the grove will be dismantled, a fire plug added, and an electric ring installed to light the grounds and new hospital building. Premiums were revised, with several dropped and new ones added.
