A violent Monday night wind and rain storm ripped through the county, uprooting trees and crippling telephone and power lines. Ex-County Commissioner Lew Neal suffered serious injuries after lightning struck his home. several barns and homes were unroofed or damaged, with property losses running into hundreds of dollars and insurance claims anticipated from over two dozen policyholders.

A Salina area coal and clay project by Salina Coal and Clay Company plans development across the county line near Salina Westmoreland County. Drilling tests precede sinking a shaft in the basin. In the March term of the county court a jury deliberated twelve hours and awarded 2625.25 to W. Heas against the Lackawanna Coal and Coke Company for damages to its grind mill on Blacktel Creek near Dilitown. The case cites acid deposits and sediment from a washer as causes, with water power reduced in dry times. The trial lasted twenty one days attendance and sixteen days on the cage. The ruling may be appealed. a similar Hess case against Vinton Colliery is set for trial next court. Judge Telford also disposed of motions for new trials and other matters.

Indiana Grocer Finds Diamond After Dime Incident
John F. Clements, a local grocer in Indiana, lost a large diamond in his store about a month ago. While picking up a dime on the floor last week, the dime rolled behind a box and retraced to the lost diamond, which was found just as he had replaced it in his shirt bosom. A trolley conductor then burst in with news of a nearby barn fire on Mrs. Clements's farm.

Ex Governor Patterson to Lecture May Evening
