Date prune promising but needs selection
The date prune, promoted by Coates and W. S. Brown at the Oregon Agricultural College station, shows promise though selection is needed. The prune dries far more than the petite, yielding about half as much dried fruit from fresh, with 20 to 40 to the pound. It is a mutant, not yet fixed to produce consistent bearing wood.
