Dallas prepares for Armistice Day with parades and a large gathering led by Carl B. Fenton post No. 20. The program includes a 1:30 afternoon parade, a luncheon for veterans and families, a college football game, a 6:30 banquet, and an 8:00 program with music and speaking. Martha Richardson Dies in Portland Pioneer and Christian Leader
Martha Church Richardson died Sunday and was laid to rest Tuesday in Portland. Born August 15 1853 in Zena she helped found Independence Church of Christ and served in the Woman's Christian Temperance Union becoming a life member. She left four children nine grandchildren and one great grandchild with many friends paying tribute at the funeral in Salem and Independence.

Valsetz Mill Resumes Operations After Refuse Burner Overhaul
The Cobbs and Mitchell mill at Valsetz resumed operations Wednesday after a two month idle period for rebuilding the refuse burner and major alterations to both the sawmill and planing mill. Initial tuning may slow output briefly, but further production is expected to rise substantially.

Valsetz Man Loses Leg in Train Accident
W. H. Hall of Valsetz was struck by a train near Valsetz Wednesday morning. His foot was severed at the ankle. He received first aid at Valsetz and was sent to Portland for further care. Unconfirmed reports stated Hall died en route to Portland. he was about 70, employed as a roustabout at a camp.
