Free lunch eligibility process in Hubbard schools
Hubbard schools sent home applications to determine eligibility for free or reduced price lunches. Within ten days of submission families are notified. Health services director Jeannette Williams reviews applications by income and family size. Foster children may qualify. Confidential information is used only for eligibility and all children are treated equally. For changes in income or family size contact Williams or Verostko.

Reading program expands at Hubbard High School
Hubbard High School expands its HUBBARD A remedial reading program started four years ago into an improvement program with speed reading. Michael Pearce, the special reading instructor, cites ongoing student gains and explains the two teacher system in the classroom. The program aims to sharpen attitudes, spelling, vocabulary, and thinking while preparing students for college and work. Pearce, a Sharon, Pennsylvania native, holds a BS in English and an MED in reading, with studies at Kent State, Edinboro, Youngstown State, and Ohio Dominican.
