Truck World sewer lines ownership finally resolved
During the June 4 City Council session, members approved an ordinance that resolves the long running dispute over ownership of the Truck World sewer lines. The original 1973 agreement had Truck World install the line and recover actual construction costs plus 9 percent interest under the Strongburg formula. The city and Truck World failed to follow it, delaying litigation. After a series of leadership changes and legal uncertainties, Council adopted measures in 1988 to secure ownership as a condition for EPA grant funding for a new sewage treatment plant, avoiding double bills for sewer charges. The ownership and financial adjustments were finalized in July 1989.
