Lawmakers Approve Pay Hike for City Auditor
City Council after months of study approved a 25 percent increase for Auditor Phyllis Hamilton effective January 1, raising her salary from 10 500 to 14 000. The vote followed two meetings and a special session. Mayor Magee criticized the delay noting she earns more than her assistant and the janitor. The new salary schedule projects $15 120 in 1983 16 178 in 1984 and 17 148 in 1985.

Packard workers aid Hubbard families at Christmas
Hubbard Packard Plant 42 employees again helped three needy families and two seniors during Christmas 1981. Clothing toys appliances and groceries were donated with gift certificates for extra groceries. Fundraisers included bake sales crafts sales pizza sauerkraut kielbasa and a Have your picture taken with Santa project. Volunteers delivered gifts with two trucks and several carloads aiding the families.
