Santa Claus makes six stops for 9th annual welcome tour
Santa Claus visited Hubbard with helpers, arriving at the Hubbard Liberty Flea Market and Antique Mart escorted by Township Police. He met children at the public library story hour, rode to Trackworld Mall for a plane visit, then joined the Fraternal Order of Police Christmas Party. Dozens of helpers from Mall officials, the Chamber, the mayor, and local police aided the events.

Swedish exchange student visits Hubbard class for Christmas
Swedish exchange student Bengt stayed with the Rose family in White Oak Drive during 1979 80. He visited Dawn Rose’s second grade class at Roosevelt Elementary on December 17 to share Swedish Christmas customs and help make a Swedish ornament filled with candy. Lucia cookies delighted students as Bengt explained traditions. He plans to return to Sweden then study at Youngstown State or Kent State in fall 1982.

Hubbard. A Holy Night Silent Night Christmas Eve program at St Patrick Church features hymns liturgical movements and a calypso band with drums flutes guitar trumpet and organ. It starts at 6 30 p m with Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord from Godspell sung by fifth to eighth grade students.

Parking ban policy set by trustees
Hubbard As in previous years township trustees have issued a warning forbidding overnight parking on streets during the snow removal season. The resolution passed by trustees is effective immediately and will remain in effect until March 31, 1982. Trustee Jack Chappa warned all vehicles parked on township roads without proper authorization will be towed at the owner's expense.

Hubbard mayor Arthur Magee challenged the Eastgate Development and Transportation Agency plan for county wide transit. At a Warren meeting he said coal transport concepts are not feasible given county geography and rejected EDATA control of Hubbard services. Retiring trustee feted by colleagues
Ralph Salerno, a 24 year township servant, was honored by Trustees Jack Choppa and Raymond Kulow at a recent meeting as he prepares to retire December 31. He served 12 years as township clerk and 12 as trustee, and will be succeeded by current clerk Helen Dubyak. In a separate matter, Delores Smith of the Warren Trumbull Community Action Agency raised concerns about racial overtones toward black applicants observed by township staff, prompting the board to investigate. Over 1,900 residents have received aid through HEAP programs in the township.

Hubbard Township trustees will conclude the 1981 business year at a 7 p.m. meeting on December 30 to reorganize. The first regular meeting of 1982 is scheduled for January 5 at the township office on Mill Street.
